Personal data, and why we hold it

What we hold about the people we document

For each person in the record: their name, occupation, products they are documented using, and for every claim a source, a publication date, an evidence classification and a verification date. Currently 25 people and 465 sourced claims.

We hold no contact details, no location data, no purchase history, no tracking of the people we write about, and no photographs of any person. We do not infer anything — if a source does not say it, it is not in the record.

Where it comes from

Published sources only: interviews, podcasts, magazine and newspaper journalism, brand press material, and public statements made by the people themselves or by named professionals who work with them. Every claim carries a link to its source. Nothing is obtained privately, and nothing is bought.

Why we are allowed to publish it

We rely on legitimate interests — the public interest in an accurate, sourced record of what influential people are documented using, set against the limited privacy intrusion of republishing things they or others already said publicly. We also consider this work journalism, and rely on the exemption for processing carried out with a view to publishing journalistic material in the public interest.

We take that framing seriously rather than decoratively: we publish corrections, we show our sources, we mark what we cannot substantiate, and we keep a public list of claims we could not verify rather than repeating them.

Inaccuracy is never protected. If a claim about you is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did. The journalism basis does not shield an error and we would not want it to.

We will not remove an accurately sourced factual claim purely because it is unwelcome. That is what makes a record worth consulting. But we will always consider an objection on its merits, explain our reasoning, and record any context you give us.

Visitors to this site

We set no advertising cookies and run no cross-site tracking. The site is static: pages are built in advance and served as files.

Retention

Records are kept for as long as they remain accurate and of public interest, and are re-verified periodically. Where a source disappears, the claim is removed rather than left standing on a dead link.
